Daydreaming: Love, Relationship and Loosened Knots*

Daydream with me of a world
Where everyone can see
How connected we really are
Tiny diamonds on Indra's net
Perched each on our own little crosshairs
Shining with inner light and
Reflecting bursts of color from
All our twinkling neighbors
When I pluck a simple note of love
On the intricate web-woven harp
A golden reverberation travels to
Farthest Siberia, Tasmania, Nigeria
And someone in Istanbul strikes a
Harmonizing chord back to me in a
Crescendo that vibrates the cosmos
Daydream with me of a world in which
Wounds are tenderly cleaned and dressed
Pettiness is loved away and
Cruelty is abandoned as nonsensical
Which of course it is
Daydream with me of an earth
On which humans live humanely
Finding ways to take only what is needed
Of feeding many with less harm
To the Mother whose fertile womb
Hosts us and our hungry bellies
We have been trapped so long
In steadily constricting ropes with
Tangled knots of our own making
We can hardly move to draw a breath
Smothered by these old animosities
That defy resolution
Let us dream into being a new kind
Of ingenuity wed to compassion
That we may witness miracles
Of healing, refuge and kinship
Let us dream of a world in which
We all dance before the bronzing sun
And on into the night
Casting handfuls of diamonds
Up into the velvety sky
